Heidelberg Engineering will present its latest developments in retinal imaging and connected clinical workflows at EURETINA 2026 in Vienna, Austria, from October 1–4.

HEIDELBERG, GERMANY – September 2026 – Heidelberg Engineering will present its latest developments in retinal imaging and connected clinical workflows at EURETINA 2026 in Vienna, Austria, from October 1–4. Retina specialists and researchers will be able to experience the technologies and speak to experts on site at our joint booth of the EssilorLuxottica Medical Technologies organization.
Among the developments presented at EURETINA will be SPECTRALIS® software release 7.4, which introduces new capabilities to Heidelberg Engineering's multimodal imaging platform. The release introduces a 250 kHz scan speed for OCT angiography (OCTA), supported by Enhanced TruTrack Active Eye Tracking, providing additional flexibility in selecting acquisition speed and image detail according to clinical requirements.
Additional capabilities include the Green Autofluorescence Module, Dense ART for OCTA, Low Luminance Autofluorescence, and workflow and reporting enhancements designed to support efficient, personalized imaging. Visit the Heidelberg Engineering website for a complete overview.
EURETINA will also mark the first commercial tradeshow presentation of Heidelberg Engineering's Multimodal Imaging Platform with Ultra High Axial Resolution OCT technology, following its previous presentations at ARVO and the company's flagship event ISS.
The platform allows for ultra-high axial resolution OCT imaging supporting detailed visualization of retinal microstructure. At EURETINA, clinical experts will be available to review images and discuss the technology and its research applications. A hot topic which is also featured in the Heidelberg Engineering symposium on ‘A New Era in Imaging: Ultra High Axial Resolution OCT | Debate on AI Biomarkers’. The speakers are Giovanni Staurenghi, Christine Curcio, Rosa Dolz-Marco and Tariq Aslam.
Heidelberg Engineering will also demonstrate a workflow connecting SPECTRALIS® imaging with RetinAI Discovery®, illustrating how imaging data can be transferred into an environment for data management and AI-supported analysis.
The demonstration will show the workflow from image acquisition to data transfer, review, and AI-supported analysis.
The company's vision for connected eye care will also feature at the EURETINA Innovation Spotlight (EIS) 2026 on September 30.
Heidelberg Engineering’s Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Stéphanie Magazzeni, will present “From the Clinic to the OR: The Digital Transformation of Retina” as part of the session "Innovations in Retinal Surgery and Imaging".
Her presentation will address Heidelberg Engineering's approach to connecting diagnostic imaging, the operating room, and post-operative follow-up through digital technologies, including the role of imaging and data connectivity.
“Advances in imaging are allowing us to examine retinal structure in greater detail while digital connectivity is changing how that information can be accessed and used,” Dr. Stéphanie Magazzeni said. “The developments we are presenting at EURETINA reflect both directions: improving the information we can obtain from imaging and exploring how imaging data can be connected more effectively across clinical and research workflows.”
Visitors can see the technologies and workflow demonstrations at the Heidelberg Engineering booth A.27 during EURETINA 2026 at the VIECON – Vienna Congress & Convention Center.
