Orbis 2024 Donor Impact Report
We are proud to support Orbis in advancing eye health services in underserved regions through their award-winning telemedicine platform, Cybersight.
Since the partnership began last year, we have continued to fund vital webinars, providing high-quality education and training for eye care professionals around the globe.
An estimated 90% of the 1.1 billion people living with vision loss or blindness are in low- and middle-income countries. Cybersight is committed to bridging this gap by offering free virtual access to training, knowledge, and other critical resources — regardless of location. In 2024, four webinars funded by Heidelberg Engineering reached over 2,050 eye health professionals across 100 countries, including conflict-affected areas such as Afghanistan, Somalia, and Ukraine.
Looking ahead, the four webinars planned for 2025 aim to empower even more ophthalmic professionals worldwide, helping to raise the standard of eye care in their local communities.
In addition, Heidelberg Engineering’s strategic support enabled Orbis to complete a major research project on retinoblastoma — a rare childhood cancer affecting around 9,000 children each year. Thanks to this partnership and ongoing multi-year funding, Orbis continues expanding access to impactful training programs across continents and communities.
