International Scientific Symposium 2026 Marks a New Chapter in Ophthalmic Imaging

The 22nd ISS - International Scientific Symposium on Ophthalmic Imaging will take place on September 18–19, 2026, in Singapore, bringing together ophthalmologists, retina specialists, and retinal surgeons from around the world.

Heidelberg, 12.02.2026- The 22nd ISS - International Scientific Symposium on Ophthalmic Imaging will take place on September 18–19, 2026, in Singapore, bringing together ophthalmologists, retina specialists, and retinal surgeons from around the world.

Building on over two decades of scientific exchange, the symposium continues its legacy while entering a new chapter under its updated name. Formerly known as the International SPECTRALIS Symposium, ISS reflects an expanded scientific scope and a continued focus on ophthalmic imaging as a key driver of clinical insight and innovation.

Held under the theme Imaging that Inspires, ISS 2026 offers an ambitious scientific program featuring internationally renowned speakers and in-depth sessions. The program addresses topics including multimodal imaging in nAMD and GA, myopia imaging and management, multimodal imaging with high axial resolution OCT imaging, artificial intelligence in ophthalmology, and next-generation ocular imaging technologies.

The symposium will be jointly directed by Professor Tock Han Lim, Senior Consultant at the NHG Eye Institute, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and Professor Leopold Schmetterer, Scientific Director and Head of Ocular Imaging at SERI, Singapore National Eye Centre.

“Ophthalmic imaging has become a central pillar of both research and clinical practice,” added Professor Leopold Schmetterer. “ISS 2026 provides an excellent opportunity to discuss not only technological innovation, but also how imaging can truly empower clinicians by translating data into meaningful clinical insight.”

“Imaging continues to play a central role in the management of retinal disease,” said Professor Tock Han Lim. “ISS 2026 will examine how imaging contributes to clinical decision-making by providing detailed and actionable information.”

The International Scientific Symposium on Ophthalmic Imaging 2026 will be hosted at the Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa in Singapore, providing a focused setting for scientific exchange and professional networking.

With its strong scientific heritage and forward-looking perspective, the International Scientific Symposium continues to serve as an international setting for progress in ophthalmic imaging and retinal care.
