International Scientific Symposium on Ophthalmic Imaging

Public Announcement: Cancellation of the ISS International Scientific Symposium 2026

In light of the current geopolitical situation and challenges that influence international event participation and travel planning, registration numbers for the 22nd ISS International Scientific Symposium have fallen short of our expectations compared with previous participation levels.

After careful consideration of the potential impact on the success of the event, we have decided to cancel this year’s symposium, which was scheduled to take place in Singapore from 17-19 September 2026. This is despite the exceptional commitment from our course directors, Professor Tock-Han Lim and Professor Leopold Schmetterer, whom we would like to thank for the development of such an outstanding scientific program.

While this was not an easy decision, we believe it is the most appropriate course of action. Our goal is always to provide the best possible environment for meaningful exchange, collaboration, and the showcasing of significant innovations to our loyal community. We feel that current conditions may not allow us to achieve this as intended.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported the event and expressed interest in participating. Your understanding and continued engagement with Heidelberg Engineering is greatly appreciated.

Alternative options are currently being explored, and information about a new date and location will be shared in due course. We remain fully committed to the Heidelberg Engineering customer community and look forward to continuing the strong and meaningful scientific interaction enabled by the ISS as we plan the next event.

Further information regarding registrations and any related arrangements will be communicated directly to registered participants.

Sincerely,

The Heidelberg Engineering Team

International Scientific Symposium (ISS) on Ophthalmic Imaging

Building on over two decades of scientific exchange, the symposium continues its legacy while entering a new chapter under its updated name. Formerly known as the International SPECTRALIS Symposium, ISS reflects an expanded scientific scope and a continued focus on ophthalmic imaging as a key driver of clinical insight and innovation.

The International Scientific Symposium (ISS) on Ophthalmic Imaging is the company’s flagship scientific event organized by the Heidelberg Engineering Academy. Celebrating its 21st anniversary in 2025, ISS is a globally recognized two-day symposium dedicated to advances in retinal imaging and ophthalmic diagnostics.

The program features high-level scientific lectures, interactive discussions, and workshops led by internationally renowned ophthalmologists and research scientists.

The symposium serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, scientific collaboration, and innovation in ophthalmic imaging. ISS is held annually at different international locations to strengthen global engagement within the ophthalmic community.
