Optical coherence tomography (OCT) has been the standard-of-care, "must-have " since its introduction over 20 years ago. Over time the technology has evolved, and devices like Heidelberg Engineering’s SPECTRALIS now allow for the acquisition of peripheral scans, expanding the modes in which eye care providers can image and analyze the patient’s progress. Jim Williamson, OD, explains why obtaining a peripheral OCT (P-OCT) may be beneficial and shares his tips for high-quality image acquisition outside of the posterior pole.
