Heidelberg Engineering Appoints Senior Medical Director Ophthalmology to Further Strengthen the Company’s Commitment to Innovation

Heidelberg, Germany 02.05.2026 - Heidelberg Engineering is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Rosa Dolz-Marco as Senior Medical Director Ophthalmology, further strengthening its commitment to advancing clinically meaningful innovation in ophthalmology. 

Dr. Rosa Dolz-Marco is a highly accomplished ophthalmologist and internationally recognized expert in medical retina, with an outstanding track record of clinical excellence and impactful research. She has contributed extensively to the field with more than 180 peer-reviewed publications, alongside active leadership as Principal and Sub-Investigator in over 40 clinical trials. Her clinical training includes prestigious international fellowships, notably at leading retina centers in New York, and she currently combines patient care with academic roles as an Associate Professor.  
Dr. Dolz-Marco is widely acknowledged by her peers through numerous awards and invitations to speak at major international congresses, as well as her participation in elite collaborative research groups and global retina consortia. Her work continues to shape advances in imaging, diagnosis, and management of retinal diseases, positioning her as a key leader in the field. 

Reporting to Dr. Stéphanie Magazzeni, Chief Scientific Officer at Heidelberg Engineering, Dr. Dolz-Marco will provide clinical and medical leadership across Heidelberg Engineering and the EssilorLuxottica Medical Technologies organization. The role is central to translating the companies’ scientific strategy into impactful clinical research programs, robust medical evidence generation, and initiatives that support real-world clinical adoption of diagnostic imaging technologies and software solutions. Dr. Dolz-Marco expands her commitment to the Heidelberg Engineering team after having worked with them closely as a consultant for more than eight years.

By bridging clinical science, product innovation, and everyday ophthalmic practice, Dr. Dolz-Marco will help ensure that technologies across the med-tech portfolio address critical unmet needs in ophthalmic diseases and emerging fields such as oculomics. This appointment supports the broader EssilorLuxottica med-tech vision of integrating diagnostics, data, and care to transform eye health and the Groups broader goal of empowering humans.
