The Latest on Spaceflight-Associated Neuro-ocular Syndrome (SANS)

HEALIO videoAlex A. Huang, MD, PhD with the Doheny Eye Institute gave an update on research efforts to treat SANS at this year’s American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting in San Francisco.

He states, “One of the big advances in the last year has been the development of a human model on earth where using chronic bedrest we can actually induce this edema.” He goes on to say this research is important because it will help identify what we can do to maintain vision for long haul space travel.
