Wide-Angle Imaging

Widescreen for the Retina

There are four ways to widen your view of the retina to look for and manage disease beyond the macula.

Widefield “Painting” with ART™ Software

Widefield pan-retinal images can be captured with the Automatic Real Time or ART™ software. Possible only with Spectralis® dual-beam, eye tracking technology, this function allows the operator to “paint” an image as the camera head pans around the retina. The resulting high resolution, widefield image extends to the retinal periphery.

55˚ Lens

An optional 55˚ lens expands your view of the retina. Simply twist off the bayonet-mounted 30˚ lens and replace it with the 55˚ lens. The instrument automatically recognizes the lens size and adjusts the measurements accordingly. With the 55˚ lens the Spectralis® can also be set at 35˚ or 25˚ eliminating lens changes in a busy practice setting.

Staurenghi 150˚ Contact Lens

The Staurenghi Lens is an optional wide-angle contact lens which offers a 150˚ image area. Using this attachment and a standard contact lens technique, the Spectralis® captures ultra-widefield images providing a dramatic view of the retina.

60˚ x 60˚ Automatic Montage

In the automatic montage mode, the Spectralis® captures a nine-image sequence by moving the internal fixation light through a pre-set pattern. The software automatically aligns and assembles the images without the aid of “post process” editing by a technician, creating a 60˚ by 60˚ montage view in a matter of seconds.
