1. Will the HRA OCT software run on Mac OS 10.4?

   Heidelberg Eye Explorer (HEYEX) software platform, which all Heidelberg Engineering instruments are based off of, is not compatible with Macintosh operating systems.

2. Can the Spectralis HRA be upgraded to the 6-mode HRA+OCT?

   Yes. The 2 mode and 5 mode version can be upgraded to the 6 mode HRA+OCT.

3. If I purchase the 2 mode version, will I be able to upgrade to the 6-mode HRA+OCT at a later date?

   Yes. The 2 mode and 5 mode version can be upgraded to the 6 mode HRA+OCT.

4. What are the main differences between the SPECTRALIS OCT and the SPECTRALIS OCTplus

   
   Like all models in the SPECTRALIS^® family, both the OCT and the OCT^Plus include the exclusive TruTrack^™ active eye tracking, FoDi^™(Fovea-to-Disc) alignment, and Heidelberg Noise Reduction^™ technology. Both models of the SPECTRALIS deliver stellar images and the precise follow-up of AutoRescan^™. The difference between the two systems is that the PLUS system is built on the HRA+OCT platform, so it is upgradable* and includes the panning camera head to facilitate Wide Field imaging.    *SPECTRALIS OCT^PLUS can be upgraded to include the following imaging modes: BluePeak^™ blue laser fundus autofluorescence, Red-free, Fluorescein Angiography (high speed video), and ICG Angiography (high speed video).

5. How many configurations or models of SPECTRALIS are available?

   The SPECTRALIS product family continues to grow, and there are now seven (7) SPECTRALIS models available in the US. In addition, because the SPECTRALIS platform is so versatile it is possible to order modified configurations of the available models. Take a look at the Model Chart, or check with your local sales representative to learn about all the options.

6. How do I properly clean the lenses and/or the housing on the HRT?

   The HRT is a precision optical measuring instrument. Protect the instrument against dust and moisture, and avoid shocks and the action of strong forces.
   Before cleaning, make sure the instrument has been turned off.
   The inclined glass plate on the front of the HRT camera’s objective lens and the astigmatic lenses should be carefully cleaned at regular intervals. For this purpose, it is best to use a cotton swab slightly moistened with 99% ethanol. The non-optical surfaces of the instrument can be cleaned and/or disinfected with traditional products as necessary. Any standard cleaning product appropriate for plastic surfaces which do not contain acetone or hydrogen peroxide (e.g. ethanol and isopropyl alcohol disinfectants) may be used for this purpose.
